National Advocacy Center Fellow-Washington, D.C.

The National Advocacy Center (NAC), located just outside of Washington D.C. in Silver Spring, MD, works to educate and develop strategies to address social justice issues and to advocate for the transformation of society to the benefit of all people. The NAC amplifies the Good Shepherd voice by linking the ministries and services of the Sisters, lay associates, and lay staff around the country to speak up and work for change in the structures of society.
The GSV who serves with the NAC will be a representative of NAC, both locally and nationally, at coalition meetings, Capitol Hill lobby visits, rallies, conferences, and visits with their partner agencies. You’ll serve an important role in moving the work of the NAC forward by gathering information from Good Shepherd agencies to help identify high priority policy and legislative concerns, you’ll track key legislation as it moves through congress, and assist them in making legislative appointments with Hill offices. You’ll help educate their partners on advocacy and its intrinsic connection and value to the work that is being done in the field by helping to design webinars for Good Shepherd agencies and planning logistics for internal and external conferences. You’ll work to increase and expand their presence on social media, and help them to engage more young people in NAC’s advocacy network.
