Justice Office - SJW

This is a position with the CSJ Justice Office. Our work of “Creating a More Just World for All” is grounded in the CSJs deep commitment to community, spirituality and justice. The CSJ Justice Office is vital in animating and supporting the community’s vibrant Justice Commission, their ten (10) working and task groups, and the overall work for systemic change.
 
In this position the St. Joseph Worker (SJW) will engage in reflecting, educating, relationship building, partnering, advocating and acting for justice. This work transforms ourselves and challenges interlocking systems of oppression in order to promote systemic change. The SJW will primarily support the work, including administrative tasks, of the CSJ Justice Office and Commission with limited service opportunities with other CSJ ministry projects and partners in order to more deeply ground our work. The SJW will have the opportunity to enhance skills, learning new ones and become an essential member of our small Justice team. This position requires a passion for justice, self-direction, creativity, humility, and an openness to accepting and reciprocating feedback as a team player.
 
Opportunities include:
§ Engaging in grassroots systemic change and justice work rooted in a uniquely CSJ community’s Justice Commission and their ten (10) working and task groups;
§ Promoting justice through reflection, education, relationships, partnerships, advocacy, and other actions for social change;
§ Cultivating essential skills for this work such as communication, community organizing, public speaking, group facilitation, networking and legislative advocacy;
§ Sharing your passions for justice with other justice-minded and faith-filled community members. 

Duties include:
§ Collaborating with Justice Office staff and interns to engage and support the CSJ Community in social justice and systemic change-oriented actions, such as:
o  Organizing educational opportunities with the CSJ and broader community;
o  Facilitating and supporting Justice Commission and issue group meetings;
o  Engaging in advocacy initiatives and trainings
o  Enhancing Justice Office communication strategies
o  Supporting administrative and outreach work of the Justice Office;
§ Actively participating in the CSJ Justice Commission along with intentional engagement in working or task groups with particular justice issue focus areas;
§ Partaking in staff and departmental meetings, as appropriate. This will enable the SJW to develop relationships along with a deeper appreciation for the broader CSJ community;
§ Co-Creating office communication and event materials such as generating online and written content, flyers, videos, social media posts and promotional materials for a variety of online and print platforms;
§ Networking with other CSJ departments, as well as St. Catherine University faculty, staff and Community Leader Interns, in the development and facilitation of programs that meet the needs of our time;
§ Participating in opportunities with the national CSJ Justice Peace and Integrity of Creation (JPIC) community, such as participation in regular national meetings or the annual national conference/retreat.
