Washington Service Corps has multiple AmeriCorps positions in its Healthy Futures Program throughout Washington State to work with food banks/food distribution centers. Positions are full time 10-1/2 month service terms with a monthly living allowance, health insurance, student loan forbearance, childcare assistance (if eligible), and an education award.
Upon successful completion of the service term, members become eligible for the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award. The education award (currently $6,395) can be used to pay off student loans, pay tuition, and other college expenses.
Positions will serve primarily at food banks, food pantries, and other organizations addressing food insecurity in Washington State.
Perform duties like:
- Stocking the food pantry
- Bag/box food for pick-up or delivery
- Collect and maintain data
- Nutrition Education
- Gleaning fruits and vegetables from farms and neighborhood gardens
- Warehouse operations
- Grocery rescue - pick up donations from local grocers
- Repack bulk foods in family-size quantities
- Customer service
- Perform outreach to identify potential volunteers
- Welcome, train, and support volunteers
